- Refractory maternal hypotension
- Maternal coagulopathy
- Maternal use of a once-daily close of low-molecular-weight heparin within 12 hours
- Untreated maternal bacteremia
- Skin infection over the site of needle placement
- Increase in ICP caused by a mass lesion
